Ministry Highlight: Spiritual Discipleship

I was fortunate to visit the ministry with our two oldest children, Nathan and Kaelyn this past May. It was an amazing opportunity to witness and be a part of every aspect of our ministry, Divine Hope Orphan Advocates. I will be sharing a blog post highlighting each area of our ministry and what we experienced when we were in Zambia.

Divine Hope Orphan Advocates is dedicated to sharing the eternal hope and salvation only found in Jesus Christ. Once the Discipleship Hall is complete, Pastor Wallace is eager to begin a church service for the area. As of now, many in the Chimwaewae village do not attend church so we are praying this will soon be an opportunity to lead many into a personal relationship with their Savior!

We had the joy and privilege of worshiping with two different churches while in Zambia. One is Pastor Wallace’s church in Lusaka, Divine Word of Life. Bertha keeps busy as the women’s director and leader of their woman’s group.

Zambian worship is unlike anything in the United States; it is loud, dancing is common, and can often last 2 hours!

We also worshiped with an amazing group of women at Chongwe Baptist Church and I was asked to lead a women’s devotional. I spoke on 1 Peter 1:3-9, the living hope that is only found through Jesus Christ.

The Bible promises trials in the life, but each trial has a purpose. We are called to rejoice in difficult times! Why? Because each trial is like a refining fire that removes our impurities and allows us to shine more like Him. We can rejoice because of the eternal life that is promised to all who believe.

Kaelyn had the joy of riding in the back of Calling women to shine like a precious metal

Anna Mambo, my dearest friend who invited me to share, is in the center wearing a pink skirt. Her husband is pastor of Chongwe Baptist.

Divine Hope Orphan Advocates led its FIRST Woman's Conference! We expected about 50 women, but 110 showed up! Our next conference will be in the Discipleship Hall! Praise God!

I was asked to lead a short devotion on 1 Peter 1:3-9 again, but because many of these women are fighting for survival, I took time to emphasize the living hope, the eternal hope, for all who believe in Jesus Christ for the salvation of their souls. We celebrated with a meal of nshima, sausage, and green and we surprised the ladies (and the children who came) with lolipops and fabric wraps for skirts. It was a beautiful day.

One of our primary goals in getting a Bible into every person’s hands at least in the Chimwaewae village and surrounding area. We are always taking donations towards this goal. Each Bible in Nyanga and Bemba costs about $5. Would you consider helping us reach our goal?

This is just a taste of what DHOA plans to provide in the future. Wallace and Bertha are passionate about one on one Spiritual Discipleship. Because Wallace, Tom, and I were saved because of one person’s bold witness, we are very zealous for evangelism and sharing the Gospel at any opportunity God allows.

Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 2 Timothy 2:4
